Bowls By the ocean
I was inspired by my love for the beach, and the bowls that I've made reflect the vision that I have of what it feels like to be sitting on the beach next to your friends and family. The light and deep blues on the insides of my bowls reflect the ocean water. The dark and light brown on the outside reminds me of coconuts on palm trees when I was in Puerto Rico. All of these bowls were thrown on the wheel. The wheel was my preferred choice of creation because I love being in control of my work. When glazing my work, I painted every stroke onto my bowls. As a learner, I am very hands-on, and Ceramics has allowed me to show what I'm capable of. I loved the format of the class, I love how Mrs. Sanyour lets you have the freedom to create whatever you want. In middle school, I worked with hand-building clay, and my time in Ceramics 1 showed me a completely different side of how clay can be shaped and formed. I am very excited to continue working with clay in Ceramics 2, I'm looking forward to expanding my skills, and maybe starting to create larger and more intricate pieces of art.
